Reason #263
Why law school is like high school...
(Something I've seen a lot of at school, and to my knowledge, none of the law school blogging community has written about, and I suspect this is not a situation unique to Westwood.)
The upperclassmen boys being with the 1L girls, while 1L boys aren't with upperclasswomen girls. Why is this? The classic reason in high school was that the upperclassmen boys were more mature than the underclassmen boys, and we all know that girls mature faster than boys. But in law school? I might be wrong, but I assume that the maturity level of 1Ls boys don't differ that greatly from the maturity level of 2L boys. Perhaps our social upbringing has ingrained into us the need for "lower" girls to date "upper" guys. (I've got a few of my own theories on why this is the case.)
Given the case, at least the 1L boys shouldn't feel as guilty and 1L girls shouldn't give 1L boys as much crap about checking out the pre-frosh 0Ls.

I've noticed that, too. I've also noticed that some of the older 1L guys do better with the upperclassmen females than those who are fresh out of college.
No one has written about it because it's a given. We all knew that. And girls who are seniors in high school (who are cool, anyway) date boys in college. And female college (undergraduate) students like to date male graduate students, or men who have graduated already. Given the choice, most heterosexual women will date men who are older/more successful than they are.
1L boys feel guilty about checking out 0Ls? I've never heard that one before. In fact, that's just dumb. It's what you're supposed to do.
SB: My point is that law school is past the stage where 2/3Ls are assumed to be more mature/ older/ successful than 1Ls, which is why the traditional rationale no longer automatically applies.
And don't think the 1L boys feel guilty but the 1L girls make the 1L boys feel like dirty old men when they check out the 0Ls.
2L or 3L guys are that much closer to graduation, the job market, and in most cases big $. not to be cynical, but don't you think that has something to do with it?
and there really are plenty of immature 1Ls so i think the i'm-dating-a-mature-3L argument holds water.
at the end of the day, i'd rather date a non-L than a 2L or 3L tho. two law students in a relationship is one too many :)
there is such a thing as a 0L?! Where? You mean the people who come to law tours? Hitting on that is just sad. Like hitting on high school girls on college tours. May not make much sense but it just feels weird.
yes, the 0Ls are the new admits, and 1L guys feel compelled to check them out because, based on the inevitableness of 'upper' boys seeing 'lower' girls I am hearing from female bloggers, the 0Ls girls will be the ones the current 1L boys go for next year as the wise, mature 2L.
